PARENTS AS THE FIRST TEACHER

All members of our learning community are partners, collaborators and advocates for our children. We value parents as the child’s first teacher and consistently engage them in the curriculum.

When a child is fortunate enough to have a seamless flow between his home and school life, it fills the child with a sense of security and clarity. We work to build two-way communication and trust with our parents to provide consistent messages to our children. Parents are involved in school decision-making, kept thoroughly up-to-date on their child’s progress, and depended on for information about their child’s home experience.

INSTRUCTOR AS THE SECOND TEACHER

The instructor is described as a collaborator and one who facilitates learning by planning activities and provocations based on the child's interests. Our role as adults is to observe the children, listen to their questions and their stories, and then provide them with opportunities to explore these interests further.

THE ENVIRONMENT AS THE THIRD TEACHER

The environment is recognized for its potential to inspire children. Our environment is filled with natural light, order, and beauty. We create open spaces free from clutter, where every material is considered for its purpose, every corner is ever-evolving to encourage children to delve deeper and deeper into their interests.

The space encourages collaboration, communication and exploration. The space respects children as capable by providing them with authentic materials & tools that inspire the children to think out of the box.

‘Because social development is seen as an intrinsic part of cognitive development, the space is planned and set up to facilitate encounters, interactions and exchanges among children.’ Lella Gandini - The Hundred Languages of Children
